Trustpilot Review Removal for Fake and Defamatory Reviews
Trustpilot is an open platform, so anyone can post a review of your business whether or not they ever bought from you, and genuine unhappy customers are entitled to stay. We take on the rest: flagging reviews that break Trustpilot's guidelines, challenging reviewers who cannot prove a genuine experience, and pursuing defamatory reviews with our legal partners where a case needs it.

Tell us your business name. A specialist reads your Trustpilot profile, marks every review that breaches the guidelines, and sends a private removal assessment.

Which Trustpilot Reviews Qualify For Removal
Trustpilot only removes a review when it breaks its own guidelines. These are the categories where a flag, a proof-of-experience challenge or a legal notice has a real chance, and the one where nothing does.
No Genuine Experience
A review must reflect a genuine buying or service experience. A reviewer who never ordered, never spoke to you and cannot show an invoice, booking or email thread is the most common removal.
Competitors And Ex-Employees
Reviews written by a rival business, a former employee or anyone with a conflict of interest breach the guidelines. Timing, wording and account history usually give these away.
Personal Attacks And Private Data
Reviews that abuse named staff, publish phone numbers or addresses, or contain threats and discriminatory language fall under the harmful content rules.
Defamatory Statements Of Fact
Opinion is protected. A false statement of fact, such as a claim that you stole money or faked a certification, is actionable, and this is where our legal partners come in.
Review Bombing
A burst of one-star reviews after a news story, a social media pile-on or a dispute with one angry party is a recognized pattern, and the flags are built differently from a single bad review.
What Does Not Qualify
A real customer who had a bad experience and wrote about it honestly stays up, however unfair it feels. For those we switch to response strategy and review generation.
How A Trustpilot Review Removal Engagement Works
Four stages, no surprises. You see the assessment and the quote before any work starts, and every engagement is covered by an NDA.
Profile Assessment
A specialist reads every review on your Trustpilot profile, checks each against the guidelines, and sorts them into flaggable, legally actionable and genuine. You get a private report with honest odds for each review.
Quote And Approval
We quote for the reviews that qualify. You approve the scope before we touch anything. No payment for the assessment, no obligation to proceed.
Flagging, Challenges And Notices
Each review is flagged through your Trustpilot business account under the right guideline, with the evidence Trustpilot's content integrity team needs. Defamatory reviews go to our legal partners.
Monitoring And Reinforcement
Removed reviews are confirmed, repeat offenders are watched, and a review generation program starts so the profile is held up by genuine customers.
How Trustpilot Actually Works
Trustpilot review removal starts with understanding what Trustpilot is: one of the largest open review platforms in the world, founded in Denmark, headquartered in Copenhagen and listed in London, and used heavily by consumers in the UK, across Europe, in the US, Canada and Australia. "Open" means anyone with an email address can post a review of any business, whether that business has claimed its profile or not, and whether or not the reviewer was ever a customer. Reviews are published first and checked later, by automated fraud detection and by a content integrity team that responds to flags.
Two labels matter when you read your own profile. A review marked "Verified" came through an invitation the business sent via Trustpilot's own tools, so Trustpilot already knows a transaction happened. An organic review carries no such label, which does not make it fake, but it does mean Trustpilot has no evidence of an experience until someone asks for it.
That question is the heart of the process. The guidelines for reviewers say a review must be based on a genuine experience with the business. When a business flags a review on that ground, Trustpilot can ask the reviewer to document the experience within a set window. If the reviewer cannot, or does not reply, the review comes down. This is the single most effective route for fake reviews, and it is open to every business profile, not only those on a paid plan.
What businesses can flag
Through the business account, any review can be reported under one of Trustpilot's flagging reasons: not based on a genuine experience, harmful or illegal content, personal information, promotional content, conflict of interest, or the wrong company. Trustpilot limits how often a profile can flag and publishes a warning on profiles it believes are misusing the tool to hide genuine criticism, so flags have to be accurate and well evidenced. That is the work: matching each review to the right reason and the right evidence, rather than flagging everything and hoping.
The Legal Route For Defamatory Trustpilot Reviews
Some reviews are not just unfair, they are false statements of fact that damage you. Trustpilot does not judge the truth of a review itself, but it does respond to legal notices and court orders, and the reviewer is personally liable for what they write.
In the UK, where a large share of Trustpilot's traffic sits, defamation law requires that a statement has caused or is likely to cause serious harm to reputation, and for a company that means serious financial loss. A solicitor's letter to the reviewer, or an application to identify an anonymous reviewer, is often enough to produce a retraction. Across the EU each country has its own defamation and unfair competition rules, and Trustpilot's European entities respond to orders from those courts. In the US a platform is largely shielded from liability for user content, so the action is against the reviewer: a cease-and-desist, or a suit with a subpoena to unmask the account.
We are not a law firm. Where a review needs a legal route we work with our legal partners in the relevant country, and we tell you up front when a review is an opinion the law will protect, so you do not spend on a notice that will go nowhere.
When Removal Is Not The Answer
The reviews that cannot be removed are the genuine ones. A customer whose parcel arrived late or who simply expected more is entitled to say so. The fix is a profile strong enough that one bad review stops mattering: a short, factual reply to every negative review written for the next reader, and review generation through Trustpilot's invitation tools so your genuine customers, usually the silent majority, are asked to review at the right moment and the verified reviews outnumber the organic complaints. If a crisis is driving the reviews, our crisis management team runs the two together; the review shield case study shows what that looks like in practice.
This is the same split we apply on every platform. Our negative review removal hub explains the approach, and the sister pages cover Google reviews, Glassdoor, BBB reviews and complaints and the wider set of consumer complaint sites. UK businesses that want Trustpilot work alongside a broader cleanup can start from our UK reputation management page.

Why Choose Online Reputation Manage for Trustpilot Review Removal?
Guideline-Based Flagging
Every flag is matched to the specific Trustpilot rule it breaks and backed with evidence, so it survives review by the content integrity team.
Legal Partners In The Right Country
Defamatory reviews go to solicitors and attorneys who work in UK, EU and US defamation law, not a template letter.
Honest Odds Before You Pay
The assessment tells you which reviews qualify and which are genuine feedback to answer instead. You approve the quote first.
NDA With Every Client
Every enquiry is confidential and every engagement is covered by an NDA, so the cleanup never becomes its own story.
Review Generation Built In
Removal fixes the past. Verified invitations from genuine customers fix the future, and we set that up as part of the work.
Monitoring After The Cleanup
We keep watching the profile so a returning reviewer or a new burst of fake reviews is flagged early rather than found months later.
