Online Reputation Management in Australia

Online reputation management in Australia for individuals, executives and businesses whose name brings up a negative news story, an old court report, a defamatory post or a review they cannot get taken down. We remove negative news and articles where a publisher, host or court will allow it, pursue court-ordered removal and Google de-indexing with our legal partners, and bury what cannot be removed under credible results. Honest odds first, a quote in Australian dollars, and nothing starts until you approve it.

What We Remove For Clients In Australia

Six problems bring Australians to us. Each has its own removal route, its own legal angle and its own honest odds, and each card opens the full service page.

Negative News Removal

A story on a national masthead, a metropolitan daily, a regional paper or a broadcaster's site that still ranks for your name years after the event. We approach the newsroom under its own policy, correct the record where it is wrong, and suppress what stays.

Negative news removal →

Negative Article Removal

Blogs, opinion pieces, listicles and the aggregator copies that repeat a story after the original has been corrected or removed. We work through hosts, authors and Google's own removal routes to get the copies down too.

Article removal →

Court-Ordered Removal

Where content is defamatory and the publisher will not act, our legal partners in Australia can pursue a concerns notice, a judgment or an order. We then submit it to Google and the hosts, who de-index or remove the pages the order covers.

Court-ordered de-indexing →

Old Charges, Court Reports And Personal Information

Court reporting of a charge that was dropped or ended in acquittal, a spent conviction still in the news, a leaked address or phone number, or an intimate image shared without consent. Each has a different route, from publisher outreach to the eSafety Commissioner.

Court report and personal data removal →

Remove My Name From Google Search

When several results together tell the wrong story about you, we remove the ones that qualify, de-index what Google's policies cover, and build the profiles and pages that take over the first page for your name.

Personal reputation management →

Review Platform Removal

Fake, defamatory or policy-breaking reviews on Google, ProductReview, Glassdoor, Trustpilot, Seek and Indeed. Reported under each platform's own rules, with the evidence that gets a review taken down, and suppressed where it does not qualify.

How An Engagement Works From Australia

Four stages, the same for a Sydney executive, a Melbourne clinic or a Perth business owner. Nothing is promised before the assessment shows what is realistic.

1

Confidential assessment

You send us the name or the links. We record every damaging result on Google.com.au, who publishes it, where it is hosted and which removal route applies to each one.

2

Honest odds and a quote

You get a private report: what can be removed, what can only be de-indexed, what will need suppression, and a quote in Australian dollars or US dollars. No payment for the assessment.

3

Approval and the work

Only after you approve the quote and we both sign the NDA does the work begin: publisher requests, platform reports, Google submissions and, where needed, our legal partners in your state or territory.

4

Monitoring and reporting

Results change as pages come down and new ones appear. We keep watching your name, report progress at each stage and act on anything new before it settles on page one.

Why People Ask Us For Online Reputation Management In Australia

Most people who ask us for online reputation management in Australia are not trying to erase a record of wrongdoing. They are a professional whose name sits beside a charge that was dropped, a company director tied to a dispute that was settled long ago, an executive whose departure was reported in a way that still follows them, a tradesperson or clinic facing a run of reviews that are plainly fake, or a private individual whose details or images were posted without consent. In every case the first page of Google for their name is decided by a handful of pages they do not control.

Online Reputation Manage is an independent reputation management firm, established 2017, headquartered in Delhi and working remotely with clients in 20+ countries, Australia among the largest. We have no office in Australia, claim no local staff and are not a law firm. What we have is a documented process for negative news removal, article removal, court-ordered de-indexing and name cleanup on Google, legal partners in Australia for the cases that need one, and working hours that cover Australian business hours from Perth to Sydney.

Defamation Law In Australia And What It Means For Removal

Australia's states and territories have largely uniform Defamation Acts, and the reforms that began in 2021 changed the ground rules in ways that matter for removal. A claimant now has to show that a publication caused, or is likely to cause, serious harm to their reputation; a concerns notice has to be served on the publisher before proceedings start; and the limitation period is one year from publication, extendable only in limited circumstances. For a business, the right to sue is narrower still. None of this is legal advice, and the first conversation with our legal partners is always about dates and the serious harm threshold.

For removal, the practical effect is this: an Australian publisher will rarely take a page down because it is unflattering, but a well-prepared concerns notice setting out why a publication is false and seriously harmful gets attention, because the publisher knows what follows if it is ignored. Where the content is clearly defamatory and the publisher refuses, our legal partners can take it further and a resulting judgment or order can be submitted to Google and to the hosts. Where the content is true, or the one-year window has passed, the route is a publisher request on other grounds, Google's own policies, or suppression.

The eSafety Commissioner And The Online Safety Act

Australia is unusual in having a dedicated regulator for online harm. Under the Online Safety Act 2021, the eSafety Commissioner runs schemes for adult cyber abuse, for cyberbullying of children, and for intimate images shared without consent, and can require platforms and hosts to remove material that falls within those schemes. This is not a general removal service: it is for serious abuse, threats, menacing or harassing content, and image-based abuse, not for a critical review or a news story you dislike. When a client's case fits, we help prepare the report so it meets the scheme's requirements, and we run the Google and suppression work alongside it so the search results recover as the content comes down.

Does Australia Have A Right To Be Forgotten?

No, not a general one. The Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles govern how organisations handle personal information, and they give individuals rights to access and correct what an organisation holds, but journalism is largely exempt and there is no European-style right to have search results about you delisted because they are old. What does exist is a set of narrower routes: spent conviction schemes at Commonwealth and state level, court suppression and non-publication orders in specific proceedings, Google's own removal policies for doxxing, explicit images, financial and medical details and sites that charge to remove content, and the publisher's discretion. Our guide to the seven options for removing a news article from Google explains how these fit together.

Negative News Removal At Australian Outlets

Australian newsrooms generally decline to unpublish, and the archives of the major mastheads are treated as a record. The exceptions are the ones we work with: a factual error, a charge that was dropped or ended in acquittal, a conviction that has become spent, a story that identifies a victim or a minor, a safety risk, or a matter so old and minor that the editor agrees it no longer serves the public interest. Where the outlet keeps the story, many will update it with the outcome, remove a name from the headline, or add a no-index tag so it stops appearing for your name in search. Each of those is a real result, and we tell you which one is realistic before you spend anything. The full approach is on our negative news removal page.

Old court reporting is the most common Australian case we see: charges reported at the time of arrest or the first hearing, with the acquittal or withdrawal never reported. The outcome documents from the court are the key, and the request goes to the editor with them attached. Australian courts publish judgments too, but most of the search damage comes from the news coverage rather than the judgment itself.

When Removal Is Not Possible: Suppression

Some content is true, lawful and staying up: a conviction, a regulatory outcome, a public court judgment. For those we do not promise what we cannot deliver. We build and rank the assets that should represent you instead: a personal or company website, professional profiles, interviews, press and the content Australians searching your name actually want to read, until these hold the positions the negative results had. Our negative search result removal and personal reputation management services cover this in detail, and our online reputation management services hub shows how removal, suppression and monitoring fit together.

Working With A Reputation Firm Outside Australia

We work with Australian clients remotely, and have since 2017. Here is what that looks like in practice, so there are no surprises.

  • Hours That Cover Your Time Zone

Your specialist is available during Australian business hours, from Perth to Sydney, by email, WhatsApp and video call. Nothing waits for the morning in Delhi.

  • NDA And Confidentiality First

Every engagement is covered by a non-disclosure agreement before any work starts. Your name, your links and the fact that you hired us stay private.

  • Legal Partners In Australia

We are not a law firm. Where a case needs a concerns notice, a court order or a regulator complaint, it goes to our legal partners in your state or territory, and you know the cost before you agree.

  • Quotes In Australian Dollars

Your assessment and quote are itemised per result and priced in Australian or US dollars. You approve it before anything begins, and there is no payment for the assessment itself.

  • No Local Office, No Local Mark-Up

We do not claim an Australian office or staff. The platforms, publishers and Google processes we work with are global, so your case is handled by the same specialists who handle every other country.

  • One Team Across Platforms

News sites, Google, review platforms and hosts each have their own route. One specialist runs all of them for your case, reports progress at every stage and keeps monitoring after the work is done.

Online Reputation Management In Australia: Questions We Are Asked

Can you guarantee a news story or search result will be removed in Australia?
No, and no honest firm can. Publishers, hosts, Google, the eSafety Commissioner and the courts make the final decision. What we do is assess each result before you pay anything, take on the cases that qualify under a publisher's policy, a platform's rules, Google's removal policies or Australian law, and give you honest odds for each one. When removal is not realistic we say so and recommend suppression instead.
Does Australia have a right to be forgotten?
Not a general one. The Privacy Act 1988 gives you rights over the personal information organisations hold, but journalism is largely exempt and there is no right to have old search results delisted simply because they are old. The routes that do exist are narrower: spent conviction schemes, court orders, Google's own removal policies and the publisher's discretion.
Can the eSafety Commissioner remove content about me?
In some cases. Under the Online Safety Act 2021 the eSafety Commissioner can require platforms to remove serious adult cyber abuse, cyberbullying of children and intimate images shared without consent. It does not cover critical reviews, news reporting or ordinary disputes. If your case fits a scheme, we help prepare the report and run the search cleanup alongside it.
Can you remove a news story about a charge that was dropped?
Often, yes, or at least change it. Australian newsrooms will consider unpublishing, updating or de-indexing a story when charges were dropped or ended in acquittal, provided the request comes with the court documents. Where the outlet keeps the story, an added note about the outcome and a no-index tag usually solve the search problem.
How long do I have to act on defamatory content in Australia?
The uniform Defamation Acts set a limitation period of one year from publication, extendable only in limited circumstances, and a concerns notice has to be served before proceedings. That is a matter for our legal partners, not advice from us, but it is why we ask for dates in the first conversation. Publisher requests, Google's policies and suppression are not subject to that window.
Do you have an office in Australia?
No. Online Reputation Manage is headquartered in Delhi and works with Australian clients remotely, during Australian business hours, under NDA. For matters that need a lawyer we work with legal partners in your state or territory. The platforms and publishers involved are the same regardless of where the firm sits.
How is the work priced and in which currency?
After the confidential assessment you receive an itemised quote, result by result, in Australian or US dollars. You approve it before any work starts, and there is no payment for the assessment. The quote states what is included, what the legal partners would charge separately if needed, and how progress is reported.
Can you remove defamatory content hosted outside Australia?
Usually the host's location matters less than the platform's rules and Google's policies, which apply worldwide. For content on overseas sites we use the host's abuse process, Google's legal and personal information removal routes and, where an Australian order exists, submission of that order to Google. Suppression covers whatever remains.
